...to the web site of the Rhydymwyn Valley Site, located near Mold in North Wales.

The Valley Works in Rhydymwyn, a Government owned site that was for years so secret that it was never even shown on maps of the area, has been transformed into a nature reserve and a site of historic interest, that’s now open for managed access.
This has been made possible thanks to co-operation between its owners, the Estates Division of DEFRA (Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs) and North East Wales Wildlife that has signed a ten-year agreement with DEFRA to manage the reserve.
Now, visitors can explore a site where munitions that played an important part in Britain’s defence were made, where research leading to the building of the world’s first atomic bomb took place and see how nature has reclaimed one of Britain's World War II chemical warfare plants.
To find out more about what's going on, have a look at our Noticeboard - click here to get there now.
We've now added an interactive map of the Rhydymwyn Valley Site showing the location of the many areas of both wildlife and historical interest.
Wildlife that includes badgers, bats, raptors and otters as well as the trees and plants of the site are included. The important historical features of the site are also shown.
